Job Overview:
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining manufacturing systems and processes to ensure they meet production requirements and quality standards with a strong emphasis on error prevention. This role will be responsible for optimizing the output of ongoing manufacturing operations as well as supporting new product launches through process design. The Manufacturing Engineer works closely with production and quality teams to develop and enhance manufacturing systems, equipment, and workflows.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, improve, and document manufacturing processes by analyzing product designs, work methods, quality requirements, and production workflows.
- Develop standard work procedures and best practices to maintain consistency and efficiency in production with the goal of human error prevention.
- Increase manufacturing efficiency by optimizing work cell layouts, space utilization, and equipment use.
- Evaluate, recommend, and implement tooling, automation, and process enhancements to improve throughput and reduce waste.
- Provide technical support for manufacturing operations, troubleshooting issues, and implementing corrective actions.
- Analyze production labor and material costs to identify and implement cost-saving initiatives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement new technologies and equipment that enhance productivity.
- Train production personnel in new manufacturing techniques, processes, and equipment operation.
- Support capital expenditure projects, including justification, selection, and implementation of new equipment.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and process improvement methodologies.
- Familiarity with automation, robotics, and CNC machining is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong technical aptitude
- Strong Knowledge of manufacturing techniques and tools
- Knowledge of proven error prevention techniques
- Knowledge of automation technologies
- Experience in CAD / CAM software
- Has a motivational and positive attitude, respectful to others
- Outstanding communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong decision-making skills and results-driven approach
- Proven project management skills
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering (or related field).
- 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
Work Environment & Schedule
- Manufacturing plant, factory, production facility.
- May require occasional travel to other company sites.
- Work hours may vary based on production schedules and project deadlines.
