is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer Onsite in St. Albans, Vermont

Job is seeking a skilled Manufacturing Engineer for our client in St. Albans, Vermont. This role involves driving thermal process development for new and existing products and supporting engineering initiatives to enhance product quality, process efficiency, and departmental productivity.

Essential Functions:
• Foster a culture prioritizing safety and quality.
• Lead the development of ceramic thermal processes for new and existing materials.
• Improve process efficiency, yields, capacity, cycle times, and cost reduction.
• Develop standardization protocols in the kiln department, including job instructions and noncompliance procedures.
• Contribute to capital equipment and engineering project identification and implementation.
• Optimize machine and material process parameters using LEAN principles and statistical analysis.
• Collaborate with production personnel on process tracking, optimization, and troubleshooting.
• Provide technical support to address manufacturing disruptions and implement sustainable solutions.
• Develop and deliver training materials to enhance organizational knowledge and awareness.
• Oversee the selection, monitoring, and ordering of refractory materials.
• Advise and support maintenance teams on repair methods and preventative maintenance strategies.
• Collaborate with vendors and external experts to maintain kiln performance.
• Stay updated with kiln hardware, including combustion and electric kilns and their components.
• Identify areas requiring additional process controls and hardware failure detection methods.
• Assist the commercial team with customer production build programs.
• Provide after-hours on-call support as needed.

Compensation: Salary is commensurate with experience.

Required Knowledge and Experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Materials Science, Chemical, or Ceramic Engineering.
• 5 years of experience with electronics and/or combustion equipment.
• Proficiency in process engineering and design.
• Experience operating production and laboratory equipment, such as furnaces and programmable controllers.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Effective time management and the ability to work independently or in small groups.

Desired Skills and Experience:
• Experience in thermal processing, sintering, and firing cycle design.
• Knowledge of PID/PLC controllers.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, or similar software.
• Combustion kiln experience.

Working Conditions:
• Work is primarily conducted at the plant onsite in St. Albans, Vermont.
• The role involves both office work in a climate-controlled environment and significant time on the shop floor, which can be noisy, dusty, and hot.
• All necessary safety equipment is provided.

Physical Demands:
• The position may require standing and walking for extended periods, with some tasks performed while seated.
• Duties may involve bending, squatting, and occasional lifting or carrying objects weighing up to 50 lbs.

• There is a potential for increased stress levels due to deadlines and peak workloads.
