Job Description

Seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer to drive the development and launch of cutting edge security products for the transportation sector with an industry leading manufacturer.

This role focuses on designing, implementing, and improving manufacturing processes, tooling, and workflows for new product launches. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and customers to support new product introductions and establish scalable production lines.

Your work in this role will have a direct impact on efficiency, product quality, and the company’s ability to grow new product lines successfully. This is a high-profile opportunity to help shape how advanced security products move from concept to high-volume production in a growing, technology-driven market leader.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and refine manufacturing processes, workflows, and documentation to improve throughput, reduce defects, and increase repeatability. Conduct time studies, capability analysis, and process mapping, and apply structured problem-solving methods to drive measurable improvements.
  • Partner with design and quality engineering to ensure manufacturability, resolve nonconformances, and implement corrective and preventive actions. Create and maintain production work instructions and support material selection, BOM updates, and lifecycle documentation.
  • Lead pilot builds, validation runs, and production readiness assessments for new product lines. Coordinate cross-functional efforts to scale output to target production volumes while maintaining safety, yield, and quality standards.
  • Define equipment, tooling, fixtures, and automation solutions that improve consistency and efficiency. Work with suppliers, machine vendors, and contract manufacturers to ensure equipment and processes meet technical and operational requirements and provide technical support when production issues arise.
  • Analyze and improve workflow, facility layout, and space utilization to support efficient manufacturing operations.
  • Communicate manufacturing performance, risks, and improvement plans to stakeholders across the organization.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering required.
  • 6+ years of manufacturing engineering experience including electronics hardware, IoT devices, or small electromechanical products.
  • Demonstrated experience successfully supporting new product introduction and scaling production lines.
  • Strong knowledge of process development, assembly methods, test processes, and manufacturing equipment for hardware products.
  • Hands-on experience with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement tools such as 8D, DMAIC, or FMEA.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation and familiarity with MES systems, CAD tools, and statistical analysis methods.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively across teams and with external partners.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, hands-on manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%.
