Job Overview:
The Manufacturing Engineering Manager will be responsible for leading and managing the engineering team in the design, development, and optimization of manufacturing processes and systems for HVAC products. This role involves ensuring efficient production, maintaining high quality, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives. The Manufacturing Engineering Manager will also be responsible for project management, team leadership, and collaboration with other departments to achieve production goals.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Leadership and Team Management:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of manufacturing engineers to achieve department and plant objectives.
- Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and identify training and development opportunities for team members.
- Foster a collaborative and motivating work environment that encourages teamwork and innovation.
2. Process Development and Optimization:
- Oversee the design, development, and optimization of manufacturing processes for HVAC products.
- Ensure that manufacturing processes are efficient, cost-effective, and meet quality and safety standards.
- Implement lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies to enhance productivity and reduce waste.
3. Project Management:
- Manage engineering projects, including new product introductions (NPI), process improvements, and equipment installations.
- Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets, and ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including production, quality, maintenance, and procurement, to achieve project goals.
4. Quality Assurance and Control:
- Ensure that manufacturing processes and systems comply with industry standards and company quality requirements.
- Oversee the implementation of quality control procedures and conduct regular inspections to maintain product quality.
- Identify and resolve quality issues, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
5. Equipment and Technology Management:
- Specify, design, and procure manufacturing equipment, tools, and fixtures to support production needs.
- Ensure that all equipment is properly maintained and meets safety and operational standards.
- Stay informed about emerging technologies and industry trends, and recommend new equipment or technology upgrades to improve manufacturing capabilities.
6. Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure that all manufacturing processes comply with environmental, health, and safety regulations.
- Develop and implement safety protocols and procedures to create a safe working environment for all employees.
- Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
7. Budget and Resource Management:
- Develop and manage the department budget, ensuring cost control and efficient use of resources.
- Monitor expenses, identify cost-saving opportunities, and implement efficiency improvements.
- Coordinate with procurement to ensure the availability of raw materials, components, and supplies for production.
8. Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Collect and analyze production data to monitor process performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Prepare regular reports on key performance indicators (KPIs), including production output, efficiency, quality, and cost metrics.
- Present findings and recommendations to senior management and other stakeholders.
9. Training and Development:
- Provide technical training and support to production staff on new processes, equipment, and procedures.
- Develop and maintain training materials and documentation for manufacturing processes.
- Encourage continuous learning and professional development within the engineering team.
10. Strategic Planning and Collaboration:
- Collaborate with senior management to develop and implement long-term strategic plans for the plant.
- Work closely with other departments, including production, quality, and maintenance, to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
- Participate in cross-functional meetings to discuss production goals, challenges, and solutions.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree or relevant certifications are a plus.
Experience:
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership or management role, preferably in the HVAC or related industry.
- Proven experience in process design, project management, and team leadership.
