Position Summary:
The Manufacturing Manager oversees daily operations of the manufacturing plant, ensuring production schedules are met efficiently while maintaining quality and safety standards. The role involves supervising production teams, coordinating with departments, implementing continuous improvement initiatives, and managing resources effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervision & Leadership:
- Lead production workers, assign tasks, monitor performance, and coach team members.
- Foster a positive work environment and teamwork.
- Production Management:
- Ensure production schedules are met with high-quality standards.
- Monitor processes, workflows, and address inefficiencies.
- Coordinate with planning/logistics for timely materials availability.
- Quality Control:
- Implement and maintain quality control procedures.
- Conduct inspections, audits, and resolve quality issues.
- Collaborate with Quality Assurance to address non-conformances.
- Safety & Compliance:
- Promote a culture of safety and enforce compliance with regulations.
- Conduct safety training and maintain records.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Identify process improvement opportunities and implement best practices.
- Lead lean manufacturing initiatives and monitor KPIs.
- Communication & Reporting:
- Maintain effective communication across the organization.
- Prepare production performance reports and participate in meetings.
- Resource Management:
- Manage labor and control costs.
- Ensure proper maintenance of equipment and coordinate repairs.
- Training & SOP Development:
- Develop and maintain training programs, SOPs, and work instructions.
- Conduct skills assessments and maintain a training matrix.
- Align training with quality, safety, and regulatory standards.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's in manufacturing, Engineering, Business, or related field preferred (relevant experience may substitute).
- Experience: 3 5 years of supervisory experience in manufacturing.
- Skills: Leadership, problem-solving, decision-making, lean manufacturing knowledge, proficiency in Microsoft Office and manufacturing software, good communication.
- Certifications: Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing certifications preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Lift/move materials up to specified weight.
- Work in a manufacturing environment with noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
Work Environment:
- Manufacturing plant setting.
- Standard hours with flexibility for overtime/weekends as needed.
