Manufacturing Manager
(Manufacturing Company for Oil and Gas Equipment)
Location: Terrell, TX (On-Site)
Our partner, a company that manufactures equipment for the Oil and Gas industry, is looking to hire a Manufacturing Manager to oversee production in their newly renovated Terrell, TX facility.
Role purpose
Build a safe, predictable, continuously improving manufacturing system that scales sustainably.
Ensure production reporting is simple, visible, and actionable.
Reporting Relationship
Reports to: COO
Direct reports: Team Leads, Supervisors
Scope ownership: Safety, maintenance (PM/PdM direction and alignment), Lean systems, production flow, shop-floor execution, training enablement, ERP discipline at the floor level.
Required qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial preferred) or an equivalent combination of education and directly relevant manufacturing leadership experience.
- 5–7 years of manufacturing leadership experience with direct shop-floor responsibility, including supervision of production teams, performance management, and daily operating cadence.
- Lean Green Belt or Black Belt (certified; applied in real operations)
- Operational experience in an ISO9001 environment (ownership and execution, not just exposure)
- Regular presence on the shop floor in an active manufacturing environment. Ability to move throughout the facility and access production areas. The partner will provide reasonable accommodations for qualified individuals with disabilities.
Strongly preferred qualifications
- AS9100 and/or IATF 16949 environment experience
- ERP-driven manufacturing environment (work orders, planning, shop-floor reporting, routers/BOM discipline)
- Ownership of maintenance strategy execution (PM/PdM) and downtime reduction
Key Accountabilities
Safety ownership
- Own shop safety systems, compliance, and continuous improvement
- Lead safety observations, corrective actions, and a culture of safe work
- Ensure safety is designed into processes and standard work (not bolted on after incidents)
Preventive and predictive maintenance (PM/PdM)
- Own PM/PdM strategy and execution in partnership with maintenance leadership
- Reduce unplanned downtime using data and constraint-driven prioritization
- Align maintenance priorities to production constraints and delivery commitments
Manufacturing execution and flow (fabrication + assembly)
- Own daily SQDCM cadence and floor management system
- Establish visibility into takt, capacity, constraints, and throughput
- Balance demand and resources without chaos, excessive overtime, or constant expediting
- Drive predictable performance in labor, throughput, schedule attainment, and delivery
Lean and continuous improvement (CI) leadership
- Serve as 5S champion with a sustainment-first mindset
- Lead Kaizen events and ensure gains hold through standard work, training, and audits
- Embed problem-solving (A3, 5-Why, fishbone, countermeasures) into daily leadership habits
ERP and digital shop-floor enablement
- Drive shop-floor ERP usage, accuracy, and discipline
- Own router/bill of labor realism and alignment to actual methods and times
- Ensure production reporting is simple, visible, and actionable (no spreadsheet heroics)
Quality systems and corrective action closure
- Use NCR/CAR processes as improvement engines, not administrative checklists
- Lead root cause analysis on defects, rework drivers, downtime causes, and warranty events
- Verify corrective actions are implemented and sustained
People, roles, and capability building
- Trained on LMA (an Entrepreneurial Operating System term meaning Leadership + Management = Accountability) and using it to lead all direct reports.
- Coach and develop supervisors and leads to think in systems and manage to numbers
- Build bench strength and reduce dependency on any one person
- Define shop-floor expectations, role clarity, and accountability rhythms
- Identify role gaps and close them via training, cross-training, or role redesign—not tolerance
Training and professional development
- Build and maintain a manufacturing training roadmap and skill matrix
- Create role-based training plans and onboarding/cross-training documentation
- Stay current through professional organizations, trade shows, and continuing Lean/manufacturing education
