DESCRIPTION
The Lenexa manufacturing site makes a dry powder product, called cell culture media, which is used nationwide by pharmaceutical companies in the manufacture of human and animal pharmaceuticals. You will work with Dried Powdered Media (DPM) in this role.
KEY EXPERIENCE NEEDED FOR THIS ROLE:
Prior leadership or training experience
Someone who can manage multiple priorities
Good communication skills both verbal and written They'll need to be able to communicate through Word and Excel based platforms regarding downtime and shift reports that monitor our performance
Mentality for optimizing and keeping lines running
Ability to run a shift handoff meeting (5 minutes communicating how things went to the next shift)
Primary responsibility is to ensure that all production procedures are performed by production personnel under Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), resulting in quality products at the Lenexa Dry Powder production facility. As a Lead Operator, you will also be responsible for directing daily tasks and the continued development of production personnel through process training.
This is a 24/7 media manufacturing plant that requires around-the-clock support. This position has no direct reports.
TRAINING:
Trains new operators. Observe and sign off on new hires’ performance of duties. Signs off on new hires’ shop floor transactions.
Observe new hires and other employees to determine if they are acceptably performing their duties.
Ensures new hires’ LMS records are accurate and completed on time.
Provides supervisors and leads with feedback on the progress of new hire training.
Participates in training programs as directed.
LEADERSHIP:
Assists Lead and Supervisors in projects leads/manages shift handoffs/updates at visual management boards.
Routinely leads daily task assignments.
Approves related reports and completes related batch record documentation in real-time.
MANUFACTURING:
Compliance with all quality and PPE guidelines.
Adheres to all approved SOPs to ensure the finished goods meet Company standards.
Sets-up equipment ensuring operations are consistent with current operating procedures.
Performs mechanical assembly and disassembly of complex process equipment and piping on a routine basis to allow for cleaning and inspection of such equipment.
Identifies malfunctions in equipment operation and with appropriate approval, takes corrective actions, such as reconfiguring equipment, adjustment of set points, or adjusting operating parameters.
Reports equipment failures and works with Maintenance to correct problems by creating WOs in SAP.
Communicates and documents the status of processes, products, and equipment and brings deviations to the attention of the lead or supervisor.
Performs procedures resulting in the cleaning of manufacturing equipment and facilities. ie. Decons and Hot CIP.
Ensures all applicable log books have been filled out completely as required by current procedures.
Assists in modifying production procedures consistent with quality guidelines
Completes all documentation in accordance with GDP and SOPs in real-time.
Performs other job-related tasks as assigned.
SAFETY:
Ensures good housekeeping in working areas, audit ready at all times.
Performs operations in a safe, orderly manner.
Reports unsafe working conditions or safety concerns through the electronic safety management system.
Completes JSAs prior to performing new tasks.
PROCESS IMPROVEMENT:
Makes recommendations for continuous process improvements in the manufacturing area. Utilizes lean manufacturing process.
Participates in process improvements under the guidance of a Lead or Supervisor.
WHO YOU ARE:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent
EXPERIENCE:
Experience in a manufacturing environment preferably with regulatory compliance practices.
Demonstrated mechanical aptitude including previous maintenance experience with process equipment or mechanical systems.
Dry product processing and packaging experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to perform all Manufacturing Tech 1 and 2 duties.
Ability to Read and Understand all written procedures as outlined in SOPs, Work Instructions, and Master Batch Records (MBR).
Ability to lift 5 pounds for a six-hour period, or as required. Occasionally required to lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to maneuver and position mechanical components up to 50 kg.
Ability to stand for long periods of time.
Ability to work within a controlled space without excessive perspiration.
Good math and reading skills.
Good eye/hand dexterity and coordination.
Ability to perform repetitive tasks and distinguish colors.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to lead and with integrity
PREFERRED:
2 5 years of related manufacturing experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Associate degree in a maintenance-related skill with 1-2 years related maintenance experience.
ADDITIONAL LOCAL NEEDS:
Must be able to lift 5 pounds for a six-hour period, or as required. Occasionally required to lift up to 50 pounds.
Must be able to maneuver and position mechanical components up to 50 kg.
Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
Must be able to work within a controlled space without excessive perspiration.
Must report all medical conditions that could negatively affect the process/product.
Must be able to pass a yearly physical exam.
