Manufacturing Project EngineerLocation: Greater Manchester - StockportJob Type: PermanentWe are working with a company within the defence and heavy engineering sector who are looking to appoint a Manufacturing Project Engineer to support their machining operations and engineering projects.This is an excellent opportunity to join a technically advanced manufacturing environment, focused on CNC machining, process improvement, and project delivery.The RoleYou will support CNC machining operations while leading and delivering engineering and manufacturing projects from concept through to completion.Key responsibilities include:Providing technical support across CNC machining operationsDesigning and developing fixtures, jigs, and work-holding solutionsSelecting cutting tools and optimising machining strategiesImproving tooling, machining methods, and process efficiencyCreating and maintaining SOPs, work instructions, and manufacturing documentationDelivering training to operators on processes and best practicesManaging engineering projects using structured methodologiesPlanning and tracking activities using Microsoft ProjectLeading machine installations and commissioning activitiesCoordinating with suppliers and contractorsSupporting Lean and continuous improvement initiativesCommunicating effectively with internal teams and stakeholdersRequirements (Essential)Strong understanding of CNC machining principlesMilling experienceExperience designing fixtures and selecting cutting toolsProven track record improving machining processesExperience creating SOPs and manufacturing documentationProficiency in AutoCADProject management experience within engineering or manufacturingExperience using Microsoft ProjectFamiliarity with ERP systems (e.g. SAP)Evidence of delivering cost savings or efficiency improvementsStrong communication skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamDesirable (Training Available)Project management qualification (e.g. PRINCE2)Previous experience as a machine operatorCAD experience (e.g. SolidWorks or Inventor)Experience within precision engineering sectors such as aerospace, automotive, or defenceKnowledge of continuous improvement methodologies (Kaizen, TPM)Previous experience in a Manufacturing Engineering roleSkills and AttributesA practical, solutions-focused approach to engineering challengesComfortable working from technical drawings and engineering specificationsAble to manage workload effectively and prioritise tasks in a busy environmentFlexible and able to respond to changing project and production demandsConfident communicating with internal teams as well as external suppliers and partnersDriven to identify improvements and enhance processes where possibleReliable, professional, and takes ownership of their workIf you’re interested in discussing this opportunity, please contact Coral at DCS Engineering to apply.
