Quality Engineer – ManufacturingAn established and growing manufacturing business is looking to appoint a Quality Engineer to join its team at its Harlow HQ. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in quality improvement, supporting cross-functional teams and helping to drive a right-first-time culture across products and processes.The RoleYou will support quality monitoring, investigation, and continuous improvement activities, helping to reduce waste and improve overall product and process performance.Key responsibilities include:Supporting the handling of warranty claims and customer-reported quality issuesAssisting with customer investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective actionsSupporting the development and maintenance of the Quality Management System (QMS)Participating in inspection activities including Tool Proof Samples, First Product Runs and Pre-Shipment InspectionsSupporting new product introduction through quality planning, risk assessment and DFMEA activitiesDefining and maintaining inspection standards, sampling plans and quality controlsAnalysing scrap, rework and non-conformance trends to identify improvement opportunitiesProviding day-to-day quality support across assembly, warehouse and production operationsRaising and managing Supplier Corrective Action Reports (SCARs)Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across products, processes and suppliersReading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications and technical standardsThe Ideal CandidateThe ideal candidate will have experience within a manufacturing environment and a strong understanding of quality processes and continuous improvement methodologies.You will ideally have:Experience in a Quality Engineer, Quality Inspector, Production Engineer or similar roleBackground in a mechanical, electrical or manufacturing environmentExperience supporting new product introduction and product development activitiesAbility to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical standardsExperience using manual inspection methods and measurement equipmentKnowledge of root cause analysis and corrective action processesFamiliarity with quality tools such as FMEA, SPC, Pareto analysis and control plansStrong communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionallyHigh attention to detail and ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced environmentThe OpportunityHybrid-based in HarlowOpportunity to join a growing and forward-thinking manufacturing businessInvolvement in continuous improvement and new product development initiativesSupportive team environment with opportunities for developmentLong-term career progression within a quality-focused organisationAbout UsZero Surplus is one of the UK’s premier recruitment agencies, based just outside Cambridge.
