Experience with manufacturing quality, packaging, print quality is a plus.
The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for the management and continual improvement of the site's Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring adherence to ISO 9001 standards. This includes maintaining ISO 9001 certification, achieving quality objectives, and implementing standardized procedures and methods to guarantee products meet specifications and regulatory requirements. The Manager is an integral part of the site Leadership Team, overseeing a 24/5 manufacturing operation across five business units, with direct responsibility for several exempt and non-exempt employees.
Responsibilities
  • Maintaining ISO 9001 Certification: Oversee compliance with ISO 9001 requirements, ensuring that all quality management processes, documentation, and audits meet or exceed standards. Lead regular internal audits, manage non-conformances, and implement corrective actions.
  • Standardizing Processes: Develop, document, and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) across the site to ensure consistent quality and compliance. Ensure these procedures align with ISO 9001 requirements and facilitate continuous improvement.
  • Ensuring Quality and Safety Training: Ensure the Quality Department is properly trained on ISO 9001 standards, audit procedures, and safety practices. Promote a culture of quality and safety through continuous training and competency assessments.
  • Managing Daily Scheduling: Organize daily tasks, including scheduling for vacation and overtime, to maintain effective resource coverage without compromising quality.
  • Building a High-Performing Team: Recruit and hire qualified personnel with a focus on maintaining ISO 9001 standards and fostering a culture of quality and compliance. Provide ongoing leadership and guidance to enhance team capabilities.
  • Collaborating on Quality Objectives: Work closely with Customer Service, Operations Managers, and customers to set, communicate, and uphold quality expectations in alignment with ISO standards.
  • Driving Continuous Improvement: Play a key role in the site's Continuous Improvement (CI) program, using insights from quality metrics, customer feedback, and audit findings to implement effective changes and achieve operational excellence.
Skills
  • Expertise in ISO 9001 Quality Systems: Strong understanding of ISO 9001 requirements, with demonstrated experience in audit management, documentation, and non-conformance resolution.
  • Standardization and Documentation Skills: Ability to develop, implement, and enforce SOPs, aligning them with ISO 9001 standards for quality consistency.
  • Strong Organizational and Leadership Ability: Capable of managing complex projects, deadlines, and team dynamics in a structured manner.
  • Excellent Communication and Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to communicate audit findings, corrective actions, and continuous improvement plans effectively.
  • Attention to Detail and Critical Thinking: Keen attention to detail and analytical skills to identify root causes of quality issues and implement preventive actions.
  • Commitment to Training and Development: Desire to educate and train team members on quality standards, ISO 9001 requirements, and continuous improvement techniques.
Experience:
The Quality Manager will have at least 3-5 years of experience in an industrial manufacturing environment, with a proven background in ISO 9001 standards. The ideal candidate will have experience managing ISO 9001 audits, resolving non-conformances, and implementing corrective and preventive actions. Familiarity with the American Society for Quality (ASQ) standards is a plus, as well as a Six Sigma background for continuous improvement initiatives.
