Marketing & Content Manager – Illinois (4 days onsite, 1 remote)

About UMMA Center
UMMA Center is a nonprofit organization serving Lake County communities through food access, education, housing support, and career development programs. As we build our Community Empowerment Center, we are expanding our reach and looking for a marketing professional who can help more people understand, access, and support our work.

Position Overview
UMMA Center is hiring its first Marketing & Content Manager to build and execute our marketing presence across digital and real-world channels. This is a hands-on role focused on content creation, social media strategy, and campaign execution that increases awareness, engagement, and community participation.

If anyone ever thought “UMMA is doing incredible work but not enough people know about it — this is your role to fix.”

Key Responsibilities
Create photo, video, written, and graphic content directly from programs and community activity
Manage and execute a consistent social media content calendar
Run campaigns that drive participation, engagement, and donor support
Write newsletters and supporter communications
Manage paid promotions and track performance metrics
Use modern marketing tools and AI workflows to improve efficiency
Help shape UMMA’s brand voice and growth strategy

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or related field
Experience in non-profit organizations or community-focused roles is a plus 
3–5 years of marketing, content creation, or digital marketing experience
Strong writing and storytelling ability
Social media fluency across major platforms
Experience with Canva, Adobe, and/or similar tools
Comfort filming, designing, and publishing content independently
Self-starter who can build systems and take ownership
Interest in analytics and modern marketing tools
