Job Title: Marketing and Event Coordinator

Job Description:

The Peaks Retreat and Adventure Center is hiring a part-time Marketing and Event Coordinator, to play a pivotal role in planning, coordinating, and executing marketing initiatives and events to promote the Centers brand, venue, services, and events. The Coordinator will be responsible for creating memorable experiences that engage our audiences while creatively communicating our purpose and pillars.

Impact and Milestones

Marketing and Event Coordinator is a positive, purposeful, and productive team member who will help promote and manage The Peaks as a premier outdoor educational and adventure destination for people of all ages to enjoy.


Begin managing all social media channels first month

Create events-focused business development plan first 2 months

Complete orientation of entire facility and activities within first 2 months

Coordinate community outreach event within the first 2 months

Run successful Wine, Beer, and Art Festival first 3 months

Key Responsibilities:

1. Event Planning and Execution:

Plan, organize, and execute various types of events such as outdoor education days, community events, promotions, trade shows, and professional development programs, in addition to executing private events.

Coordinate logistics such as vendor management, catering, audio-visual requirements, safety and security, and signage.

Develop event timelines, budgets, and contingency plans to ensure seamless execution.

Oversee event setup, teardown, and onsite coordination to ensure events run smoothly.

2. Marketing Campaigns:

Collaborate with the Center Director and creative team to develop creative and compelling marketing campaigns aligned with the Centers objectives.

Broaden social networking to benefit the organization by developing social media campaigns, updating content across various social media channels, utilizing social media marketing tools and engaging with followers and customers.

Assist in the creation of marketing materials including brochures, flyers, posters, digital content, and social media posts.

Create, implement and monitor marketing across various channels including email, social media, print, and digital advertising.

Track and analyze performance metrics to measure effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.

3. Brand Promotion:

Maintain brand consistency across all marketing materials and events.

Work closely with internal teams to ensure messaging aligns with the Centers purpose and pillars.

Develop partnerships and sponsorships to enhance brand visibility and reach new audiences.

Act as a brand ambassador at events, representing the Center in a professional and engaging manner.

4. Relationship Management:

Cultivate and maintain relationships with vendors, sponsors, partners, and key stakeholders.

Respond to inquiries and provide support to internal and external stakeholders before, during, and after events.

5. Research and Innovation:

Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in marketing and event management.

Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify opportunities for growth and differentiation.

Generate new ideas and innovative approaches to enhance the Centers marketing and event strategies.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or related field.

Proven experience (2+ years) in marketing, event planning, or related roles.

Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required for events.

Excellent project management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and marketing software/tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Mailchimp, Hootsuite).

Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.

Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities.

Knowledge of social media platforms and digital marketing trends.

About The Peaks Retreat & Adventure Center

The Peaks Retreat and Adventure Center facilities include a 66-acre conference and event facility located 30 minutes outside of Roanoke, Virginia. On-site, the center features 8,500 square feet of indoor event space, a 1,000 square foot caterers kitchen, and on-site lodging for up to 80 guests. Amenities include an outdoor stage, amphitheater, hiking trails, zip-line, climbing-wall, low ropes course, swimming pool, pond, sand volleyball court, basketball court, disc golf course, and multiple large open fields.
