About the Role
Under the supervision of the Marketing Manager the Marketing Specialist is a key member of the Resource Development team. The Marketing Specialist manages projects from concept to completion, ensuring that project deliverables are completed on time—while upholding the organization’s mission, values, and brand standards. The Marketing Specialist will help us to create visual concepts for a variety of media, including print/digital advertisements, branded/promotional pieces, and fundraising event collateral. The ideal candidate has strong visual design skills, a strategic mindset, and a passion for using design to drive social impact.
Key Responsibilities
Graphic Design
Design and produce compelling visual assets for print and digital use.
Apply best practices for layout, typography, color, and hierarchy in both static and dynamic content.
Ability to work in a deadline-driven environment and create designs on tight deadlines.
Collaborate with marketing and cross-functional teams to ensure designs across all creative formats and channels align with brand standards, accurately convey ideas, and represent BGC
Stay organized and communicate effectively with team members to ensure smooth workflow and project completion.
General Marketing Support
Working with the Marketing Manager to contribute to the development of messaging and tone for graphic design pieces, projects, campaigns and marketing assets.
Supports internal brand initiatives, graphic design needs, and community events
Partners with Resource Development to create, post, and promote digital content for fundraising campaigns
Supports fundraising and media events with digital and social content
Manages targeted ad campaigns in Google Ads and Meta Business Suite to support donor acquisition and retention
Captures photos and videos onsite at Clubs
Creative copywriting and editing as needed
Social Media Content
Develops and schedules compelling content across all platforms
Engages directly with community comments, messages, and tagged content
Monitors social and digital KPIs weekly; provides monthly performance reports with insights and recommendations
Assists the Marketing Manager in refining strategies and data-informed content planning
Maintains brand consistency and voice across all platforms
Stays current on social platform trends, algorithm changes, and digital marketing innovations
Collaborates with staff for content, photos, and event attendance
Create and source engaging visuals.
Draft and schedule content across platforms.
Email & Website Support
Help develop and manage content for the website and e-newsletters.
Create and schedule e-blasts.
Desired Skills & Qualifications
Must be located in Southern California (Position is NOT available for remote work)
Bachelor’s Degree or 1-3 years’ experience in graphic design, marketing or related fields required.
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop)
Familiarity with Canva, Mailchimp, Buffer, and Squarespace is a plus.
Strong eye for detail, typography, layout, composition, and visual storytelling.
Ability to follow creative directions and adapt to feedback.
Good organizational and time management skills.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are essential.
Ability to take initiative to make suggestions on how to improve copy or design.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Video editing software knowledge is a plus.
Basic knowledge of web design and html.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, carts, etc. and reach overhead. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. and multi task. The job requires about 90% office work and 10% at school sites or clubhouse to capture content. This position will be in-person working at an office and occasionally at clubhouse and school sites. Exposure to noise.
