Job Description

POSITION PURPOSE: The Master Data Manager will play a critical role in our organization by leading the strategy and execution of our master data management (MDM) program. As a leader of the data organization, the Master Data Manager will assume day-to-day accountability for the effectiveness and evolution of our data capabilities. Initially, the focus will be on defining a more strategic structure of our data-centric organizational roles, improving our data processes, ensuring our effective use of related technologies, and establishing a data governance program and its related processes. Ongoing management of this program will ensure continual improvement and maturity of our data governance and data management principles across all business systems and data domains. Ultimately, this position is accountable for the success of company's data program and requires a strategic thinker that will provide leadership and guidance to ensure the integrity, improved quality/consistency, governance, and sustainability of our master data management.

DUTIES, TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Data Strategy and Vision: Establish a strategic vision and implementation roadmap for company's MDM program, including key objectives, guiding principles and performance goals aligned to COMPANY's broader business objectives. Define, (re)design and deploy an MDM program required to implement COMPANY's data management strategy, including the organizational structure to support any new processes as well as the policies, rules and standards by which COMPANY can ensure data integrity. Work closely with key stakeholders to understand their data needs, challenges, and expected outcomes.

Master Data Management (MDM) Team: Leadership of the MDM organization, including the Data Stewards who operate within their relative data domain(s) and/or functional areas. Define roles and responsibilities related to data governance and ensure clear accountability for stewardship of the company's principal information assets and create a data team that is responsive to COMPANY Organizational requirements. Collaborate with business leaders and assess current and future business requirements to ensure consistent, accurate, complete, accessible and timely data.

Data Governance: Establish an initial, foundational data governance model that ensures data quality, consistency, and standardization across the organization and will mature/evolve over time. Define data ownership, stewardship roles and responsibilities, and key performance metrics that demonstrate the effectiveness and value of our data governance investments.

Process Improvement: Identify, assess, and improve master data management processes, ensuring that they are efficient, effective, and meet the needs of the business. Ensure accountability, ownership and enablement of data management roles as part of the process.

Technology Optimization: Collaborate with IT and other key stakeholders to ensure that supporting data technologies are fully leveraged to best support COMPANY's operational and analytical systems (i.e. SAP). This includes strategic participation in the evaluation, selection and implementation of data management applications, as well as staying abreast of the latest Automation, MDM, and data governance application trends.

Partner with IT Development: Collaborate with IT development resources to ensure that data solutions are effectively designed, implemented, integrated, optimized, and tested to the defined business requirements and data quality needs

Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with various departments to ensure current master data requirements are met, future requirements are considered, and support the broader business objectives. Interact with key stakeholders and data owners across the organization to promote data accuracy and adherence of best-in-class data management practices.

Training and Development: Develop training programs to educate employees on the importance of data management, data governance, and the use of SAP for MDM. Foster a data-driven culture within the organization. Facilitate skills progression for the MDM team by creating talent and performance standards that drive growth and productivity.

Performance Metrics: Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of the master data management program, promote followership, and identify prioritized areas for improvement and opportunities that drive business value.

Documentation: Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for data architecture, including data flow diagrams, data dictionaries, data standards, business rules and any related functional/technical specifications.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

Proven experience (4+ years) in a data leadership role, preferably within a large, complex supply chain-centric organization.

Experience in shaping and evolving a company's data team to complement and fully support the evolving strategic and tactical challenges of the organization.

Strong understanding of master data management principles, strategies, concepts, and leading practices.

Working knowledge of data governance, data quality (profiling/cleansing), data processes, and archiving.

Ability to design and re-design data governance per requirements.

Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems, Engineering, Business or related field required.

Detail-oriented with a commitment to data accuracy and quality.

Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to communicate and influence at all levels of the organization to deliver innovative and cost-effective solutions.

Proven change management and relationship building experience.

Excellent problem solving, dispute resolution, interpersonal, analytical and project management skills; ability to prioritize, delegate tasks and multi-task.

Strong focus on collaboration, team building, and customer service.

Demonstrated experience in/with enterprise-wide data governance required.

Demonstrated skill running effective meetings and gaining buy-in and participation from executive leaders.

Demonstrated experience with data automation, data governance and data quality tool sets (i.e. Winshuttle, Precisely Evolve)

Strong Microsoft Office skills - Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, MS Project, MS SharePoint.
