Job Summary:
The Materials Management Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring seamless supply chain operations at our Research Triangle Park, NC location. Reporting to the Warehouse Supervisor, this position is responsible for overseeing timely and accurate receipt, storage, and shipment of materials and finished goods. The role demands strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with both internal teams and external partners. The Materials Management Specialist directly supports production and marketing schedules, contributing to the overall efficiency and success of business operations.

Key Responsibilities:

- Plan, coordinate, and lead shipping and receiving of time-sensitive, temperature-sensitive shipments.
- Ensure accurate delivery from vendors, inventory receipt, packaging, and timely shipment of finished goods.
- Oversee timely receipt and quality of materials, ensuring compliance with company standards.
- Maintain security, accuracy, and accountability of inventory control.
- Ensure availability of materials for production and shipment per marketing schedule.
- Adhere to operational methods and maintain documentation for department efficiency.
- Build and sustain business relationships with customers and suppliers.
- Verify incoming and outgoing shipments and logistics documentation.
- Process import/export paperwork and shipping-related bills and invoices.
- Compare freight charges, arrange transportation, and obtain rates and shipping schedules.
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment, occasionally traveling to local warehouses and lab sites.
