We currently seek a qualified Social Worker to join our inpatient maternal child health team to provide clinical social work services for NICU and Inpatient Well Baby Nursery.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide clinical psychosocial services for NICU and postpartum individuals and their families
  • Conducting and/or overseeing mental health, ACES, and social needs screenings of pregnant women and mothers of newborns to identify at-risk individuals and families
  • Actively collaborating and coordinating activities and referrals with other hospital units (e.g., Psychiatry, Pediatrics, OBGYN, Behavioral Health) to facilitate warm hand-offs and seamlessly integrated service provision
  • Providing short-term, evidence-based behavioral health services as a fully integrated member of the womens health multidisciplinary team
  • Leading psycho-educational and psychotherapeutic groups for pregnant individuals and families
  • Participate in the QA/Quality Improvement Program of the Department.
  • Participate in the Brooklyn Parenting Center staff meetings and committees
  • Represent the Brooklyn Parenting Center and the hospital at meetings and conferences
  • Participate in studies, surveys or research, initiated or approved by the Hospital
  • Continue professional development through formal and informal education and training with specific age related populations. Attend scheduled in-service programs, Participate in professional organizations

We require:

  • Masters degree in Social Work from an accredited school of social work.
  • Minimum 1 year experience strongly preferred in healthcare with a focus on perinatal health
  • An interest and experience in perinatal mental health diagnosis and treatment
  • Work within integrated care alongside health professionals or in the medical setting
  • Experience with evidenced based interventions for perinatal behavioral health
  • Excitement and motivation for program development
  • Ability to work independently and to think reflectively about work and professional role
  • Demonstrated knowledge of rules and regulations of child abuse/neglect
  • Good problem-solving, decision-making & judgment skills
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal & computer skills
  • A deep understanding of the impact of, trauma, toxic stress, and social determinants, on health and well-being;
  • Demonstrated commitment to prevention-based programming and promotion of health equity.

Bilingual preferred.

Salary range $ 41.10 - 58.19
