All professional personnel employed by the Elkins School District must possess qualifications set forth by the State Department of Education. The district aims to employ persons who exceed these minimum requirements whenever possible. Appointments of instructional personnel shall be made by the Board of Education upon recommendations made by the superintendent. The principal is responsible for ensuring that selected candidates meet all qualifications established by the Board and law. The administration reserves the responsibility to evaluate experience and assign positions. Duties: Oversee all phases of the educational program for students. Assist in program and curriculum development. Schedule events for students and parents. Assist principals with program development and instructional practices. Attend all educational events for the assigned building. Submit requests for materials, supplies, and equipment in advance following requisition procedures. Maintain respectful interactions with parents, students, and colleagues. Evaluate student progress and report results to parents. Submit required reports and forms to the principal promptly. Communicate regularly with parents. Update online grades weekly; failure to do so may result in administrative action. Provide students with quality feedback. Teachers are encouraged to refrain from emailing, texting, or social networking with students outside instructional hours. Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or superintendent.
