Job Description:

Portledge School seeks to hire a dynamic Upper School mathematics teacher for a full time leave replacement position from April 2026-June 2026. The ideal candidate will have a strong mathematics background with the ability to effectively teach PreCalculus. This individual should be driven to create a classroom environment where student learning is a non-negotiable goal and passion is evident on a daily basis. Responsibilities include teaching 6 sections of mathematics, participating collegially in meetings and initiatives of the mathematics department, serving as an advisor to a group of ten upper school students, and taking an active role in the life of the school community. This position will report to the Upper School Division Head.

Qualifications:

• BA Degree minimum; advanced degree preferred in relevant area(s)

• Teaching certification preferred

• Candidates with formal teaching experience given preference

• Superb written and oral communication as well as organizational and time management skills

• Ability to comfortably, warmly, and effectively engage with large and small groups of adults and/or students in professional or social settings

• Belief in the value of all types of diversity, equity and an inclusive, positive, and student-centered environment

Compensation Range:

$175-$225 per day
