What you will be doing:
  • Support the Engineering Manager in providing engineering services to various departments.
  • Perform mechanical designs of Mohawk's new products, accessories, and customization based on direction from the Engineering Manager.
  • Enhance and revise product designs focusing on part standardization, simplification for manufacturing, and cost reduction.
  • Develop product documentation and technical specifications.
  • Test products and support organizational compliance with testing and certifying organizations.
  • Complete and document analytical stress analyses.
  • Utilize 3D CAD tools and perform FEA structural simulation and analysis in the Autodesk Inventor suite.
  • Provide expertise in controls, PLC programming, and automation.
  • Research and identify the mechanics, performance, and functional requirements of products.
  • Partner with Purchasing and Production departments for design improvements to reduce costs and improve product quality and performance.
  • Collaborate with sales and other functions on new product development and customization projects.
  • Conduct product NRTL inspections, lift testing, and device calibrations.
  • Provide oversight for planning related to lift certifications.
  • Identify and adhere to regulatory requirements affecting assigned projects or products.
  • Act as a backup to the Engineering Manager for all ALI requirements and participate in ALI Committee Meetings.
  • Maintain awareness of current technology related to Mohawk activities.
  • Handle MRP data entry and drawing revisions.
  • Resolve Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) by investigating problems and implementing appropriate changes.
Experience you will need:
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
  • 10 years of experience, including 3 years of 3D CAD experience.
  • 5 years of mechanical design experience.
  • 5 years of MRP experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical design and drafting.
  • Experience with CAD tools, specifically Autodesk Inventor.
  • Familiarity with FEA structural simulation and PLC programming.
  • Experience in revising existing designs focused on continuous improvement and cost reduction.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, as well as software applications for FEA structural analysis.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
