Mechanical Design Engineer (Contract – 6 Months)Location: Crawley, West Sussex (On-Site) Contract Length: 6 Months Outside IR35We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer for a 6-month on-site contract based in Crawley. This role will support a fast-paced engineering programme delivering innovative mechanical systems within a regulated, quality-driven environment.This opportunity is well suited to contractors who are comfortable owning designs end-to-end and integrating quickly into established engineering teams.Key ResponsibilitiesProduce detailed 3D CAD models and manufacturing drawingsLead mechanical design from concept through to production releasePerform tolerance analysis, FEA validation, and design optimisationSupport DfMA (Design for Manufacture & Assembly) initiativesCollaborate closely with electronics, manufacturing, and supply chain teamsParticipate in design reviews, risk assessments, and technical documentationEnsure compliance with relevant UK and international standardsRequired Skills & Experience Strong 3D CAD capability (SolidWorks, Creo, or Inventor)Proven experience delivering mechanical design projects on a contract basisFEA and simulation experience (ANSYS, SolidWorks Simulation, or similar)DfMA and cost-reduction engineering experienceKnowledge of sustainable design and material optimisationUnderstanding of UKCA and CE compliance requirementsExperience within regulated industries (aerospace, defence, medical, energy, or advanced manufacturing)BOM creation and PLM system experienceStrong communication and stakeholder engagement skillsDesirable ExperienceAutomation or robotics system designMechatronics integrationRapid prototyping and additive manufacturingDigital engineering or model-based design exposureExperience improving manufacturing efficiency or reducing environmental impactIdeal Contractor ProfileAvailable immediately or on short noticeComfortable working fully on-site in CrawleyAble to operate autonomously with minimal supervisionStrong documentation and engineering disciplineIf you are a Mechanical Design Engineer seeking your next on-site contract in the South East We'd be keen to speak.APPLY NOW or get in touch for more details
