Title - Mechanical Design Engineer (Manufacturing & VAVE)

Must have Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
- 4+ relevant years of experience in mechanical design and manufacturing engineering.
- Strong proficiency in UG NX, Teamcenter, and SolidWorks.
- Experience in VAVE, cost optimization, and design validation.
- Ability to create accurate 3D/2D models, GD&T, and documentation.
- Understanding of electrical systems, wiring diagrams, and electromechanical integration.
- Strong communication, problem‑solving, and vendor coordination skills.
- Hands-on experience with shop-floor testing and prototype builds.
Position Overview:
We are looking for a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer with strong hands‑on experience in product design, manufacturing processes, VAVE initiatives, testing, and cross‑functional coordination. The ideal candidate will have the ability to design both mechanical and electrical components, create & review 2D/3D models, collaborate with vendors, and support engineering teams through design validation and floor testing.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Mechanical & Electrical Design
- Design mechanical components and assemblies with strong understanding of manufacturability (DFM/DFA).
- Create and modify 3D models and 2D drawings using industry-standard CAD tools.
- Good in Surface modeling.
- Develop electrical drawings, wiring layouts, and functional diagrams.
- Execute VAVE (Value Analysis/Value Engineering) initiatives for cost reduction and performance improvement.
- Design parts used in boat systems (both mechanical and electrical) and validate with Mechanical Engineering (ME) teams.
2. CAD Tools & Systems
Work proficiently with the following tools:
- Siemens UG NX
- Teamcenter PLM
- OBMS / SAP
- QMS systems
- SolidWorks
- Manage CAD data, BOMs, and document control within PLM environments.
3. Drawing Creation & Review
- Prepare detailed engineering drawings, GD&T, and tolerance stack-ups.
- Review and validate drawings and functional diagrams received from vendors.
- Ensure all drawings comply with engineering standards, quality requirements, and manufacturing constraints.
4. Manufacturing Coordination
- Collaborate closely with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are production‑ready.
- Address manufacturing issues, perform root-cause analysis, and support process improvements.
- Provide technical guidance during fabrication, assembly, and testing phases.
5. Testing & Validation
- Perform hands-on testing of models and prototypes on the manufacturing floor.
- Support mechanical and electrical validation activities (fit, form, function, durability, etc.).
- Document and report test results, failures, and corrective actions.
6. Vendor & Cross-functional Collaboration
- Coordinate with vendors, review their technical deliverables, and ensure alignment with engineering requirements.
- Work closely with Design, Manufacturing Engineering (ME), Quality, and Supply Chain teams.
- Participate in design reviews, technical discussions, and project meetings.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing components for marine/boat applications.
- Knowledge of PLM, QMS, and OBMS tools.
- Familiarity with industry standards and manufacturing processes such as machining, sheet metal, injection molding, and composite fabrication.
