Mechanical Design Engineer / Mechanical Engineer Location: Houston, TX Package: $110,000 - $140,000 + equity The team is building hardware that must perform flawlessly in mission-critical environments - and they’re looking for a Mechanical Engineer who is comfortable owning full product development from concept through to flight-ready hardware. This is a hands‑on engineering role. You will design, prototype, test, break, iterate, refine, and ultimately ship real hardware that pushes the boundaries of performance and reliability. Responsibilities Lead mechanical design of high-performance components and assemblies Build and prototype your own concepts using in-house tools, fixtures, and experimental setups Execute testing (thermal, vibration, structural, performance) and use results to drive design iteration Develop mechanical architectures for power systems, battery modules, enclosures, packaging, and thermal structures Own the full engineering lifecycle: requirements, design, simulation, prototype, validation, release Collaborate closely with electrical, thermal, and systems engineers on integrated hardware Support flight hardware development and qualification Contribute to rapid development cycles where "test-iterate-test" is the norm Requirements 5+ years mechanical engineering experience in hardware product development Strong 3D CAD capability (SolidWorks, Creo, NX or similar) Proven hands‑on ability to prototype, assemble, instrument, and test your own designs Experience with one or more: power systems, energy storage (battery modules, packs, enclosures), thermal structures / heat transfer, aerospace or high-reliability hardware Comfort working in fast development cycles with limited information and evolving requirements Strong understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, tolerances, and DFM/DFA Mission-critical hardware for spaceflight, defence and advanced grid systems High-performance mechanical assemblies where weight, reliability and thermal behaviour are essential #J-18808-Ljbffr
