An aerospace client is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer with Active Secret Clearance will support senior mechanical engineers in the design of military avionics including inertial navigation and measurement systems and mission computers for the Sentinel program. Location: Woodland Hills, CA 91367 (Onsite) Position: Mechanical Design Engineer with Active Secret Clearance Pay Rate: $42.17/hr. - $53.39/hr. on W2 (DOE) Duration: 6 months or longer Schedule: 9x80 A Shift: 1st Shift TRAVEL: Yes, <10% of the Time RESPONSIBILITIES:Mechanical design engineering and lead mechanical engineer responsibilities for inertial navigation systems and/or mission computers, including support for existing product lines.Creation of innovative designs with high producibility at minimum unit cost.Support for root cause analysis and quick resolution of manufacturing line stops and other critical production activities.Collaborative work with other engineering organizations, program management, factory operations, global supply chain and Mission Assurance.BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:US Citizenship is required.Must have an Active DoD Secret or higher clearance to start.Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) discipline with five or more years applicable experience; OR a Master's degree in a STEM discipline with three or more years applicable experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline with 1 year of applicable experience.Expertise with mechanical CAD software (Siemens NX preferred)Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), drawing creation, tolerance stack-up analysis, etc.Good presentation and writing/communication skillsExperience mentoring junior level engineersPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Demonstrated proficiency with Siemens NX CAD software and Teamcenter PLM softwareExpert-level proficiency with GD&T per ASME Y14.5Familiarity with ASME and MIL standardsBasic understanding of stress principles and component sizingDemonstrated high degree of creativity and ability to solve a wide range of difficult problemsDemonstrated ability to be self-motivated, willing to learn, experience working in a team environmentCompetence and confidence working under pressure on requests with short turn-around timesExcellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information clearlyProven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teamsStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on continuous improvementMust be proactive and results-oriented, with a strong sense of ownershipAbout our client:Our client is a world leader and premier innovator in aerospace, with over 100,000 top talent employees providing the most advanced products and technologies in the industry.
