The Mechanical Design Engineer will design, develop and product support through product the life cycle.
They are responsible for manufacturing used in manufacturing of new products, tools, development, equipment, processes, fixtures, and controls in developing the appropriate product, specifications, layout, testing, procedures, prototyping.
In addition, this modification design position is responsible for continuous product lines improvement design, re-tooling, systems, components, and parts used in other existing products.


Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of design and manufacturing experience in agricultural equipment.
    Equivalent experience in other equipment types will be considered.
  • Proficiency in a 3-D CAD program, preferably Autodesk Inventor & Vault.
    Other programs like Catia, Pro-E, Solid Works, or Solid Edge will also be considered.
  • Previous design experience involving steel fabrication processes and equipment (e.
    g.
    , saw, plasma, laser, punch, and forming).
  • Prior design experience with machining processes and operations, including lathe, VMC, and HMC.
  • Design experience with weldments for both hand and robotic welding processes, along with general welding knowledge.
  • Experience in designing and machining steel and iron castings is preferred.
  • Prior involvement in product development project coordination, including determining and coordinating fabrication, welding process, fixturing, and tooling needs for prototyping and production.
  • Familiarity with designing, operating, and using agricultural equipment, as well as general farming operations.
  • Previous work experience in developing and supporting product and design support documentation, such as Product Manuals and department standards.
  • Design experience with control systems.
  • Familiarity with ISOBUS systems.
  • Proficiency in written, verbal, presentation, and telephone communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft products, including Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

Essential Duties:
  • Develop multiple design solutions and CAD layouts to identify the ideal design for new and existing products, ensuring alignment with manufacturing capabilities, high quality, and customer expectations.
  • Perform engineering calculations necessary to meet goals and expectations.
  • Establish, determine, contribute, and provide internal and external specifications, including raw materials, manufactured items, and outsourced components.
  • Provide or assist in directing and coordinating manufacturing processes for prototype and production builds.
  • Create accurate, complete, and detailed Bill of Materials, part, weldment, and assembly drawings.
  • Manage multiple projects and Engineering Change Notices to meet project timelines.
  • Contribute to and determine processes involved in product development, such as prototyping, testing, and tooling.
  • Assist other departments to ensure project success.
  • Provide periodic project and documentation support as directed by Engineering Supervisor.
  • Generate reports as required by the Director of Operations.
  • Offer significant project support for all areas as directed by senior management.

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
