Title: Senior Automotive Design Engineer – Vehicle Architecture, CAD & PackagingLocation: Warwickshire (On‑site / hybrid 3/4 days per week)Contract: 12 months | Start: ASAPRate: £55-60k pro rata About the RoleWe are supporting a major automotive OEM seeking a Senior Automotive Engineer with strong experience in vehicle architecture, CAD design, geometric integration, and packaging. This role aligns internally to a Vehicle Integration Engineer (Senior Engineer D) but is broadened here for discoverability.You’ll be responsible for early‑phase vehicle layout, system packaging, and geometric issue resolution across multi‑disciplinary engineering teams in an EV‑focused environment. Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop vehicle architecture layouts, CAD package models, and concept studiesCreate component and system packaging solutions to support design feasibilityIdentify, track, and resolve geometric, clearance, and compatibility issuesCollaborate with cross‑functional teams (chassis, body, powertrain, electrical)Support benchmarking, concept development, and design trade‑off discussionsProduce clear CAD visuals, design reports, and integration recommendations Essential Skills & Experience2+ years in vehicle packaging, vehicle integration, or automotive product developmentStrong CAD capability – or transferable 3D CAD such as NX/Creo/SolidWorksFamiliarity with multi‑component mechanical systems and structural design eg: chassis, propulsion systems, and body structuresStrong communication skills with ability to align cross‑functional stakeholdersAbility to deliver high‑quality work against tight engineering deadlines Nice‑to‑Have SkillsExperience in EV architectureKnowledge of GD&TLayout engineeringVirtual build / digital buckSystems engineering exposureAutomotive concept development
