Mechanical Engineer - Deputy Director Apply
Vibranalysis is seeking a qualified and experienced Mechanical Engineer - Deputy Director to perform code-compliant inspections of mechanical systems on construction projects throughout New York City. This position is dedicated to Special Inspections, as defined by Chapter 17 of the NYC Building Code, with a focus on HVAC, Mechanical Systems, Energy Code Compliance, Plumbing, Fire Suppression, and fuel gas systems.The ideal candidate has multiple years of hands-on experience in mechanical field inspections or mechanical system installations, with strong knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and inspection procedures. This role plays a key part in ensuring construction work is performed in accordance with approved plans and regulatory requirements.Key ResponsibilitiesConduct mechanical special inspections in accordance with the NYC Building Code and DOB requirements, with a focus on:HVAC system installation and ductworkFuel gas piping and equipmentFire suppression systemsPlumbing systems and associated componentsMonitor and document field installations for compliance with approved construction documents and relevant standardsGenerate clear and accurate daily inspection reports detailing site observations, test data, non-conformance issues, and corrective actions.Coordinate with contractors, site supervisors, and design professionals to address field conditions and resolve compliance issues.Attend job site meetings and maintain effective communication with project teams and internal technical staff.Assist in preparing Technical Reports for Mechanical Special Inspections for DOB submissions.Support quality assurance efforts and maintain proper records for audit and regulatory review.Required QualificationsLicensed New York Professional EngineerMinimum 5 years of mechanical field experience, including special inspections and project closeouts.Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering.Familiarity with NYC Mechanical Code, Energy Code, Fuel Gas Code, and DOB protocols.Proficient in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and installation specifications.Strong written communication skills for reporting and documentation.Ability to work independently across multiple job sites with minimal supervision.Preferred CertificationsICC Special Inspector Certifications in Mechanical, Plumbing, or Fuel GasOSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety CertificationKnowledge of or experience with DOB NOW and TR1/TR8 processesNFPA, ACI, or ASHRAE certifications or coursework a plusWhat We OfferCompetitive compensation based on experience and certifications (Compensation Expected between $45-55 an hour)401(k) with employer contributionHealth, Dental, and Vision InsuranceLife and Disability CoveragePaid Time Off (PTO) and Paid HolidaysSupport for certification and continuing educationOpportunities for growth within a licensed Special Inspection AgencyPerformance-based incentives and referral bonuses
