Position Summary
The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the development and maintenance of CAD drawings, as well as implementing site- and application-specific equipment modifications to ensure peak performance. This role is key to advancing BIOIONIX's status as a world-class equipment provider by contributing to equipment enhancements.
The engineer will gain a deep understanding of the full product line, system capabilities, and applications. Success requires collaboration with internal teams to define equipment specifications and provide solutions for field-related issues.
Travel is a necessary component of this position, with an anticipated commitment of 25–50%, depending on project and production requirements. Travel includes visits to customer sites for assessing application needs and installation specifications.
Position Duties
- Travel to customer sites to determine proper selection and installation requirements of BIOIONIX equipment and how it will integrate with customers’ existing processes
- Provide equipment engineering support and maintain technical documentation, including CAD drawings, electrical schematics, data collection systems, and implementation SOPs.
- Assist with engineering of equipment, including specifications and design of new components and equipment
- Improve BIOIONIX technology through implementing lessons learned from field implementations
- Provide technical support to the BIOIONIX Service Team and customers’ contractors during installation and commissioning of equipment
- Supervise field installation work and participate in the startup of the company’s products for new applications
- Assist in the development of BIOIONIX’s data collection system to remotely monitor and control BIOIONIX systems
- Other duties and responsibilities, and changes to these duties and responsibilities, as directed by company management
Position Requirements
- Ability to work in fast paced and dynamic environments
- Ability to take initiative independently in a manufacturing environment while working effectively as part of a team
- Minimum of an associate degree or apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering or related field, or significant documented experience in such a field
- Experience working with mechanical and electrical drawings, including process & instrumentation diagram and electrical schematics
- Experience using SolidWorks, AutoCAD Inventor, or similar 3D modelling software
- Fluid Dynamics: Piping, pump sizing and control, fluid velocity, sanitary design
- Experience and comfort supervising installations at field sites, using tools, and dealing professionally at all levels of customer organizations
- Ability to travel up to 50%
Position Desired Qualifications
- Experience in the food and beverage industry. Experience with liquid products, sanitary design, and fluid handling
- Experience with PLC and HMI Programming, Allen-Bradley/Rockwell preferred
- Specialized knowledge in electrochemistry, food and beverage sanitation, water treatment, corrosion of metals, and/or bacteriology
