DESIGN ENGINEER

POSITION DETAILS
Position Summary
The Design Engineer executes projects from kickoff through design, manufacturing support, assembly, and factory testing, focusing on mechanical design and control system integration for refinery valve applications. This role collaborates cross-functionally to develop detailed designs and documentation, support fabrication and testing, and ensure safety, quality, schedule, and customer requirements are met.
Principal Activities
•\tReview project specifications, including customer requirements and applicable industry standards.
•\tDevelop mechanical design of the control system in accordance with project scope, specifications, and
engineering best practices.
•\tCollaborate with drafters to produce accurate and complete project drawings.
•\tPrepare engineering documents and technical data to support customer review and understanding.
•\tSelect appropriate instrumentation and mechanical components for refinery valve control systems.
•\tCreate, review, and maintain Bills of Material (BOM) to support procurement and manufacturing.
•\tDevelop and review Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) procedures to verify system performance and
compliance.
•\tCoordinate with vendors and suppliers to optimize cost, quality, and delivery of purchased components.
•\tConduct site visits to subcontract fabricators to verify compliance with project requirements and design
intent.
•\tProvide technical and engineering support for manufacturing.
•\tInvestigate, evaluate, and develop new applications for existing equipment and systems.
•\tEffectively communicate complex engineering ideas and principles to non-technical stakeholders for
decision making.
•\tProvide technical leadership in customer meetings as a subject matter expert on design and processes.
•\tLead subject matter continuous improvement efforts of existing products to maximize production and
operating cost-effectiveness.
•\tProvide direction to support field service team.
•\tProvide day-to-day internal and customer operational support.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities
•\tProficiency in AutoCAD, Creo (Pro/ENGINEER), or other comparable 3D modeling and drafting software.
•\tStrong knowledge of fluid power systems, including hydraulic and pneumatic applications.
•\tProficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
•\tSolid understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and its application in
mechanical design and manufacturing.
•\tAbility to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and industry standards.
•\tStrong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
•\tExperience with oil & gas industry instrumentation and control systems is highly preferred.
•\tFamiliarity with refinery valve applications and industry standards is a plus.
Education & Experience
•\tBachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial or Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
•\tMinimum of 5 years of related engineering experience in system or equipment design.
