Mechanical Engineer at UICGS / Bowhead Family of Companies Join to apply for the Mechanical Engineer role at UICGS / Bowhead Family of Companies . This position supports manufacturing projects, combining hands-on technical work with equipment maintenance. The ideal candidate has a strong mechanical aptitude, familiarity with engineering drawings and quality assurance, organizational skills, experience with precision machining, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The role is 100% onsite in Indian Head, MD. Responsibilities Provide technical expertise in solving complex engineering problems. Participate in all phases of hardware design, development, integration, and analysis. Conduct feasibility studies for design improvements and technology implementation. Develop standards and guidelines for tasks. Interface with government personnel. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or higher in mechanical engineering or related field. 3-5 years of experience. Ability to drive tasks from concept to production independently. Proficiency in 3D CAD tools (e.g., Creo, SolidWorks). Experience with engineering drawings, GD&T, and manufacturing design. Strong problem-solving skills and teamwork ability. Experience in developing, testing, and producing components and systems. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Technical writing experience, including test plans and reports. Knowledge of military and commercial standards (e.g., MIL-STD, ASTM, ISO). Experience with finite element analysis (FEA). Physical Demands Walking, standing, and moving in a machine shop environment. Lifting up to 50 pounds. Exposure to noise, dust, and vibrations. Use of PPE such as safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection. Bending, kneeling, and reaching as needed. Security Clearance Must be able to maintain a Secret clearance; US citizenship required.
