Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Mechanical Engineer Level II to join our Sustaining Engineering team. This role focuses on supporting, maintaining, and enhancing existing printer product lines. The successful candidate will work in a cross-functional environment to ensure that current products meet evolving customer needs, reliability standards, and cost-efficiency expectations.

Job Responsibilities:
Support Existing Products:
Investigate and resolve mechanical issues in production and fielded units
Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)

Design Improvements:
Recommend and implement design enhancements for improved reliability, manufacturability, and cost efficiency
Conduct tolerance stack-up and DFM (Design for Manufacturability) analysis

Change Management:
Prepare and process Engineering Change Orders (ECOs)
Maintain and update documentation including drawings, BOMs, and 3D CAD models

Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and customer service teams on technical issues
Participate in design reviews, failure investigations, and continuous improvement projects

Testing & Validation:
Develop and execute component/system test protocols
Evaluate returned product failures and generate solution-driven reports

Supplier Support:
Collaborate with suppliers to resolve part issues and improve quality
Review and approve supplier drawing changes and deviations

Compliance & Standards:
Ensure products comply with industry regulations and internal standards
Support documentation and testing for certifications such as UL and CE

Project Participation:
Support sustaining engineering projects from concept through release
Independently manage small-to-medium projects or contribute to larger projects with moderate supervision

Required Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • 2+ years of experience in mechanical design or sustaining engineering
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo)
  • Working knowledge of GD&T and standard engineering drawings
  • Experience with ECOs, BOMs, and PLM tools (e.g., Windchill, Arena, Agile)
  • Root cause analysis tools (5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams, FMEA)
  • Hands-on experience with electromechanical systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with printers, copiers, or electromechanical office equipment
  • Familiarity with injection-molded plastic parts and high-volume manufacturing
  • Mechanical testing and validation experience (thermal, vibration, fixture design)
  • Cost reduction, reliability, or vendor quality improvement project experience
  • Direct supplier collaboration for issue resolution and component qualification
  • Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, or Kaizen methodologies
  • Understanding of RoHS, REACH, UL, or related compliance standards

Certifications:
