Role Description

This is a full-time in office role for a Mechanical Engineer based in Sayreville, NJ. We are seeking a mechanical design engineer to become an integral part of the engineering team. The job function will be to create engineering drawings for blister and pouch packaging machinery as well as taking on ad-hoc responsibilities within an entrepreneurial organization. The candidate will work directly with the lead engineer as well as the President of the company.


Job Responsibilities

  • Technical reviews of designs include operator ergonomics, drive requirements and ratios, cam profiles, machine timing, actuator forces, pneumatic circuits, bending moments, component material selection, component ease of manufacture, cost analysis, compliance to regulatory guidelines, compliance to Company standards and similar mechanical engineering activities.
  • Provide planning, scheduling and reporting progress status of projects to ensure timely completion of projects
  • Continued pursuit of standardizing and streamlining departmental processes
  • Detailed design of components, machines, and layouts using SolidWorks
  • Build BOM's
  • Design ancillary custom equipment (feed systems, specialized applications)
  • Create new concepts and designs for parts and equipment
  • Maintain engineering software
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing and packaging issues
  • Other duties as assigned by management


Qualifications

  • Have BSME or equivalent experience
  • Have 5+ years of experience mechanical design of light industrial machinery
  • Have 3+ years of experience in the packaging industry, Pharmaceutical Packaging preferred
  • Project Engineering and/or Project Management a plus
  • Knowledge of FDA regulations on CGMP and their application in machine design
  • Be able to conceptualize, design and communicate technical information
  • Be innovative, resourceful and disciplined when resolving technical challenges
  • Calculate drive requirements and ratios, cam profiles, machine timing, actuator forces and similar mechanical engineering functions
  • Work in a fast-paced collaborative team environment
  • Be proficient in pneumatic circuits and devices
  • Familiarity and understanding of pumps and fluid dynamics
  • Strong proficiency in Mechanical Engineering and Machine Design
  • Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD), including 2D and 3D modeling
  • Experience in Research and Development (R&D) for innovative engineering projects
  • Project Management skills, including planning, coordination, and execution
  • Problem-solving abilities and a detail-oriented approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • Experience with packaging machinery and unit dose technologies is a plus


Have strong knowledge base of fabrication methods and processes such as milling, turning, welding, plating, and coatings with an understanding of cost impacts

Be proficient in SolidWorks and Microsoft Office products

Knowledge and experience of robotic integration is a major plus

Be proficient in the metric system of measurement
