Overview The Source Inspector (SI) is responsible for performing inspection operations of in-process or completed hardware, including dimensional and visual inspection. The SI may review related paperwork and perform Final Inspection, Receiving Inspection, Outside processing, and Assembly. The SI will verify FAI’s to AS9102 for accuracy and completeness and must be familiar with hand tools and gaging techniques. The SI will be fluent in blueprint interpretation and GD&T (ASME Y14.5). Source Inspection occurs at end customer’s suppliers’ location and the SI will travel to these locations. Job Responsibilities Experienced quality individual in dimensional inspection of aerospace machined components Experience in performing FAI’s – AS9102 Experience with hand measurement tools Knowledge of CMM inspection process Knowledge and experience in GD&T (ASME Y14.5) Knowledge and experience with blueprint interpretation Perform final inspection and receiving inspection (including dimensional, visual inspection, surface finish, and assembly inspection) Reads, interprets, and utilizes quality policies, procedures, blueprints, and other documentation Process warehouse materials Rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines/procedures to perform the functions of the job Support positive corrective actions and identification of root cause Other duties as assigned Required Skills Experienced quality individual in dimensional inspection of aerospace machined components Experience in performing FAI’s – AS9102 Experience with hand measurement tools MS Outlook and Excel experience Experience with hand measurement gages, conduct conventional inspection to engineering requirements Knowledge and experience in GD&T (ASME Y14.5) Knowledge and experience with blueprint interpretation Valid driver’s license and auto insurance required Additional Desired Skills Prior practical experience and implementation of quality inspection tools and equipment Experience in RCCA and problem solving General Requirements Ability to handle complex situations and solve complex problems Ability to work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines Ability to press and analyze technical and business information Ability to work in a team environment with strong communication skills (verbal and written) Ability to interact via telephone, email with co-workers Ability to remain seated for up to 5 hours at a time Fluent English – reading and writing is required Professionalism, integrity, and exceptional attention to detail Strong independent decision-making skills; excellent analytical skills and professional judgment Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills Must be able to simultaneously manage several objectives Must be detail oriented, organized, and self-motivated Additional Qualifications (Preferred) 3+ years’ experience as a quality inspector or technician 3+ years’ experience in an aerospace manufacturing facility 3+ years’ experience in inspection duties, FAI’s, GD&T, and blueprint interpretation Proficient with Microsoft Office products Effective communication skills Detail oriented Any combination of education and experience may be considered The General Vision Acuity Test shall be performed by a qualified professional; requirements include near, far, and color vision as applicable to the role Valid Driver’s License Valid Auto Insurance Working Conditions Productivity: Incumbents must perform work in an efficient, effective, and timely manner with minimal direction. Mobility: May include light lifting and sitting for prolonged periods. Vision: Ability to read printed documents and computer screens. Environment: Typical office conditions, with interaction with Quality management team, SMS team, and external customers. Hours: Typically Monday–Friday 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.; extended hours and weekend overtime may be required. Physical: Use of hands, standing/walking, sitting, reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, and occasional driving. Up to 20 pounds lifting. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, and focus adjustment. Noise level: Moderate to high.
