Summary The Mechanical Systems Technician will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical systems and equipment used in tire testing operations. This role ensures optimal performance of machinery, minimizes downtime, and supports a safe and efficient testing environment. Responsibilities Assemble, install and align mechanical components for tire testing machines and related equipment. Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and equipment manuals. Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on mechanical systems, including bearings, shafts, and hydraulic systems. Diagnose and repair mechanical failures, ensuring minimal disruption to testing schedules. Fabricate or modify parts using welding, machining and other metalworking techniques. Ensure proper fit and alignment of components during assembly and repair. Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work area. Comply with OSHA and company safety standards. Work closely with lab supervision, test engineers, technicians, and lab personnel to support testing operations. Provide input on equipment improvements and reliability initiatives. Assist Facilities Manager with performing Facility improvements/repairs where needed. Knowledge And Skills Good communication skills. Able to work well in a group and follow supervision. Strong Technical Competence. Proficient knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic and PLC-controlled systems. Education And Experience High School Diploma, technical certification or apprenticeship preferred. A minimum of 3+ years as an industrial mechanic or millwright in a manufacturing or testing environment. Familiarity with tire testing equipment or automotive testing machinery is preferred. Physical Requirements Ability to repeat motions that include the wrists, hands and/or fingers. Must be able to repetitively operate handheld tools that vibrate the hands, wrists and arms. Employees must possess the ability to regularly lift, carry, push, pull and move materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Must be able to remain standing or moving on feet for prolonged periods of time. Ability to work in confined spaces where needed to access parts of test equipment.
