The Department of Corrections is currently recruiting to fill a Medical Assistant 2 position. This position is based out of Oakhill Correctional Institution (Oregon, Dane County).
This position does not have the option of a hybrid work schedule.

Position Summary

This position is responsible for clinic patient flow within the Health Services Unit Ambulatory settings and assisting Health Services staff by providing a broad range of health care services. This position functions as a member of the Health Services Units patient care team which includes registered nurses, nurse practitioners, clerical staff, and physicians. Medical Assistants may provide patient care under the supervision of a physician, PA, NP or registered nurse (RN) and perform delegated medical acts which must be directed, supervised and inspected by the supervising physician.
Salary Information

This position is in pay schedule and range 06 - 11 with a starting pay of $19.52/hour. Pay on appointment for current state employees may vary according to the applicable pay transaction provisions of the Compensations Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code. A twelve-month probationary period is required.
Job Details

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e. a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application.
The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency of employment.
The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified applicants will have training and or experience in the following: Performing clerical services in a medical setting (i.e. scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, navigating electronic medical records) Performing patient care services (i.e. taking and recording vital signs and medical histories; preparing patients for examination; assisting with patient examinations, treatments, and procedures, able to accurately account for all tools and equipment.) Maintaining patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.

In addition to the above, well qualified applicant will have training or experience in the following: Certified in basic life support/cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) Experience with medical office room preparation (i.e. supply stocking, ordering, instrument processing, and sterilization of equipment) Experience collecting blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens and preparing them for testing.
