Medical Assistant Job Description

Job Summary:
The Medical Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting physicians and other healthcare professionals in delivering high-quality patient care. This position involves both administrative and clinical tasks to ensure efficient operation within the healthcare facility.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Patient Care:

   • Prepare patients for examination by taking vital signs, recording medical histories
   • Assist physicians during exams and procedures.
   • Provide patient education and instructions as directed by the physician.

2. Clinical Duties:

   • Perform basic laboratory tests and ensure proper handling of specimens.
   • Administer medications and injections as directed by a physician.
   • Perform Fibroscans

3. Administrative Tasks:

   • Schedule patient appointments and manage patient flow.
   • Maintain and update patient records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
   • Handle billing and processing as needed with the billing team.

4. Communication:

   • Serve as a liaison between patients, physicians, and other healthcare providers.
   • Communicate effectively with patients regarding their care and treatment plans.

5. Facility Management:

   • Ensure exam rooms are clean, stocked, and organized.
   • Maintain medical equipment and order supplies as necessary.

Qualifications:

• Completion of a Medical Assistant program or equivalent experience.
• Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks efficiently.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and carry medical supplies and equipment.
• Manual dexterity to operate medical instruments and office equipment.

Work Environment:
