Job Summary:

The Medical Assistant will work 9-hour shifts in the Hematology Oncology Care Clinic. The position does not require floating between units, on-call duties, weekend work, or block schedules.
Location:Hood River, Oregon, United States
Responsibilities:

- Assisting patients in their routine activities of daily living.
- Performing range of motion exercises.
- Ambulating patients.
- Positioning patients and providing skin care.
- Distributing linen and changing beds as needed.
- Assisting with feeding and meal delivery.
- Assisting with routine hygiene care, including toileting and incontinent care, as well as appropriate oral and personal hygiene.
- Assisting the patient care team in collecting patient data and specimens.
- Obtaining urine, stool, and sputum specimens and processing specimens as needed.
- Obtaining and recording health, weights, vital signs, including pulse oximetry and pain assessment and I&O.
- Communicating patient status and reporting changes in patient condition to a licensed professional.
- Assisting the patient care team by performing and explaining designated patient care procedures.
- Performing incentive spirometry.
- Transporting patients and preparing them for diagnostic tests.
- Assisting rehab therapists.
- Performing pulse oximetry/oxygen setup in oxygen therapy.
- Preparing rooms with necessary supplies.
- Providing post-mortem care.
- Preparing for admissions and discharges.
- Assisting nurses in emergency situations.
- Maintaining and cleaning equipment.
- Performing suction (oral, nasopharynx).
- Performing blood sugar finger sticks.
- Removing IV catheters per licensed nurse instruction.
- Performing EKGs (department-specific responsibility).
- Answering unit phones and directing calls accordingly.
- Performing data entry into electronic medical database systems.
- Documenting patient care and related duties appropriately.
- Performing selected patient registration activities.
- Coordinating equipment/supply needs and notifying the appropriate department of equipment malfunctions.
- Performing any other related duties (e.g., clerical, technical duties) as assigned.
Required Skills & Certifications:

- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- CNA license
- AHA BLS Provider CPR
Preferred Skills & Certifications:

- N/A
Special Considerations:

- 9-hour shifts in the Hematology Oncology Care Clinic.
