The Medical Assistant performs routine clinical and administrative duties to support the daily operations of the practice. This role ensures high-quality patient care, smooth workflow, and an excellent patient experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Follow up on reported patient issues and assist with service recovery.
  • Maintain equipment and medical supplies, including reordering, stocking, cleaning/disinfection, and troubleshooting.
  • Keep examination areas clean, organized, and fully stocked.
  • Manage and respond to all in-basket messages and patient phone calls.
  • Round with patients to ensure a positive and consistent patient experience.
  • Assist providers (physicians, PAs, NPs, or nurses) with patient assessments and treatments.
  • Obtain and accurately document vital signs, height, weight, medication history, allergies, screenings, and other relevant information.
  • Perform basic diagnostic procedures and specimen collection, including phlebotomy, splint application, and procedural room setup.
  • Assist patients with MyChart activation and ensure Telehealth connectivity for scheduled appointments.
  • Perform administrative and clerical duties such as scanning, reception, scheduling, data entry, and registration.
  • Review and document Social Determinants of Health; provide patient education and resources as needed.
  • Monitor and communicate changes in patient condition; document care and provide discharge instructions.
  • Recognize emergent situations and seek assistance immediately.
  • Review patient charts to ensure imaging and all required documentation are available for appointments.

Education & Certification Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant or EMT program OR six (6) months of patient care experience.
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association or Red Cross (accepted formats include e-card, RQI, or traditional card)
