Job Summary:
The Medical Assistant provides direct patient care and performs clerical and communication duties to support efficient department operations. Responsibilities include assisting patients with daily living activities, collecting patient data and specimens, performing designated patient care procedures, and maintaining equipment. The Medical Assistant also handles phone calls, data entry, and coordination of equipment and supplies.

Responsibilities:
- Assist patients with routine activities of daily living, including range of motion exercises, ambulation, positioning, skin care, linen changes, feeding, hygiene, toileting, and incontinent care.
- Collect urine, stool, and sputum specimens, and process specimens as needed.
- Obtain and record patient health data, including weights, vital signs, pulse oximetry, pain assessment, and I&O.
- Communicate patient status and report changes in patient condition to licensed professionals.
- Perform incentive spirometry and transport patients.
- Prepare patients for diagnostic tests and assist rehab therapists.
- Set up pulse oximetry/oxygen therapy and prepare rooms for admissions and discharges.
- Assist nurses in emergency situations and provide post-mortem care.
- Maintain and clean equipment.
- Perform oral and nasopharyngeal suctioning and blood sugar finger sticks.
- Remove IV catheters per licensed nurse instruction and perform EKGs.
- Answer unit phones and direct calls appropriately.
- Perform data entry into electronic medical database systems and document patient care and related duties.
- Perform patient registration activities and coordinate equipment/supply needs.

Required Skills & Certifications:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Medical Assistant (MA) Certification from one of the following:
- American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
- American Medical Technologists (AMT)
- National Health Career Association (NHA)
- American Registry of Medical Assistant (ARMA)
- National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
- Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA)
- BLS Certification
- Adult and PEDS experience
- 2+ Years of experience preferred + MA Associate's Degree or MA Diploma (copy of transcripts required prior to start) AND MA Certification + BLS OR 5 years of MA experience + MA Certification + BLS

- Rotating Saturdays with a day off during the week.
