Overview Primary City/State: Queen Creek, Arizona Department Name: Float Pool Work Shift: Day Job Category: Clinical Care 2,000 SIGN ON BONUS* Certified ONLY - 12 months of experience with a 12 month commitment. The payout is 1k at start (30-45 days after start) and 1k at the 12 month mark. PLUS $80 ALLOWANCE FOR SCRUBS INCLUDED WITHIN THE FIRST 45 DAYS OF HIRE. Position Summary This position is responsible for assisting clinicians and nursing staff in providing medical care, as well as implementing and evaluating direct patient care. This role utilizes specialized knowledge, judgment and skills to provide an excellent patient experience. Possible restriction in Cerner: can do everything but place orders, prescription refill. Core Functions Prepares patient for exam and treatment by taking and recording vital signs, symptoms and other measurements; documents pain scores as appropriate. Reports changes in patient condition to the clinician. Assists providers with exams and minor in-office procedures (e.g., taking blood pressure, respiration/heart rate, temperature), phlebotomy, ear irrigation, and EKGs. Acts as chaperone as needed. Uses universal precautions and PPE as needed. Manages patient flow through the clinical process. Coordinates and manages patient care including pre-certifications, referrals, authorizations, prescriptions and scheduling of clinic, hospital and other treatments/tests. Communicates test results to patient. May administer medications in accordance with policy. Provides clerical support with patient notifications and documentation, including medical records, labs, authorizations, X-Rays and prior care summaries. Ensures information necessary for billing is complete and accurate. Maintains a clean, functional environment including cleaning and disinfection of equipment and rooms. Follows sterilization procedures and OSHA guidelines for hazardous substances. Performs basic equipment maintenance and coordinates needed repairs. Monitors inventory including medications and immunizations; addresses recalls and expirations as applicable. Develops and maintains effective communication with external and internal customers. Demonstrates service orientation and teamwork in all contacts. Supports projects within scope established by PM or supervising MA. Completes required onboarding/orientation activities, including simulation training as needed. Works under the direct supervision of providers and interacts with staff at multiple levels, physicians, patients, families and external contacts to coordinate care. Reports/clarifies information with physician offices as needed. Prioritizes data from multiple sources to support patient and family response to health changes. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications High school diploma/GED or equivalent; completion of an accredited Medical Assisting program. An approved medical assistant training program as defined by state regulations. Note: An Uncertified Medical Assistant will be placed in this position up to 12 months from date of hire to obtain certification. Certification must be from one of the following: AMT (RMA) or AAMA (CMA) or NHA (CCMA) or NCCT (NCMA). BLS certification is required. Preferred Qualifications Experience with office medical procedures, knowledge of insurance, managed care operations, EMR and scheduling software is preferred. Additional Information Shift and clinic hours vary: Clinic hours are Mon-Thu 7am-7pm, Fri 7am-5pm, Sat 8am-1pm. Shifts may be 4-10s or 5-8s based on provider assignments; may include one Saturday per month (8am-1pm) and one late night per week (e.g., 8:30am-7:00pm or 10:30am-7:00pm).
