The Opportunity:

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both phlebotomy and front office support, ensuring the efficient operation of our medical facility. You will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality patient care, maintaining a welcoming front office environment, and assisting with administrative tasks.

What youll likely work on

  • Establishes and prepares documents for patient records and patient services
  • Capture relevant information about the patient's health and healthcare experience while rooming patients, taking vitals, administering point-of-care testing, and performing standard age and condition-appropriate screening assessments
  • Assists with optimizing patient flow to keep appointments on schedule
  • Provides non-judgmental, client-centered care, and provides accurate information by answering questions and providing appropriate resources
  • Performs responsibilities as required by the health center, room patients, stock rooms, phlebotomy, labs, patient education, assisting physicians and clinicians

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Performs in-house phlebotomy and in-house specimen processing in a physician office setting
  • Processes all specimens in accordance with laboratory protocol including the proper handling, centrifugation, storage, packaging, and transport
  • Administers vaccines and immunizations in accordance with established medical protocols, ensuring safe and effective delivery to patients, while maintaining meticulous records of consent, dosage, timing, and patient information.

Care Coordination

  • Provides patients and co-workers with excellent customer service in all interactions and tasks
  • Collaborates with providers to monitor the health of a panel of patients and determine if they are up to date on preventive measures
  • Ability to assist in providing patient education on chronic disease management and coach patients using an action-planning model based on motivational interviewing techniques is desirable
  • Assist with the coordination of post-visit care by scheduling appointments with specialists, coordinating referrals, and sharing information to the patient's internal and external care team
  • Patient outreach by phone and through the patient portal for follow-up and reminders for upcoming care needs
  • Participates in the daily operations of a primary care practice, such as answering incoming phone calls, responding to emails, assisting with front desk inquiries, and ensuring the general upkeep of the clinical space.

What youll need

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a medical assistant program preferred.
  • Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) certification.
  • Medical Assistant certification (CMA or RMA) preferred.
  • Proficiency in phlebotomy techniques, including venipuncture and capillary puncture.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, front office procedures, and electronic medical records.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a high touch customer service or patient facing role, preferably in a healthcare setting
