Responsibilities
- Review and analyze clinical documentation to ensure accurate coding of diagnoses and procedures.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify doubtful or incomplete documentation for accurate coding.
- Ensure compliance with coding policies and procedures, as well as governmental regulations and payer guidelines.
- Monitor changes in coding practices and updates to relevant regulations, incorporating them into daily practice as necessary.
- Conduct pre-bill audits to ensure the accuracy of coding prior to billing submission.
- Assist in training and mentoring junior coding staff on best practices and coding updates.
Requirements
- Certification as a Medical Coder (e.g., CPC, CCS, or equivalent).
- Proficient knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and pathophysiology.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to high accuracy in coding practices.
