Medical TechnicianThe Medical Technician is responsible for working in all sections of the Laboratory (Hematology, Chemistry, Serology, and Urinalysis) as assigned. Essential responsibilities include following established policies and procedures, receiving, collecting, and labeling specimens, performing test procedures, maintaining records, reviewing and verifying patient results, cleaning and maintaining laboratory equipment, performing supply inventory, notifying supervisors of concerns, maintaining knowledge of equipment and procedures, displaying a positive attitude, maintaining basic knowledge of medical coding, participating in professional development, attending meetings, and maintaining strict confidentiality.Competencies include patient centeredness, accountability for results, adaptability, technical knowledge, teamwork, and time management.Supervisory responsibility: This position has no direct reports.Required education and experience include fulfilling educational requirements, completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technician program, current certification as MLT (ASCP), current Florida licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technician, and current American Heart Association recognized Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.Preferred education and experience include 1-year experience working as a Medical Lab Technician.Physical demands include talking or hearing, lifting objects up to 15lbs, standing, walking, using hands to finger, handle or feel, reaching with hands and arms, exercising good judgment, positively influencing and leading others, and repetitive motion of upper body.Position type/expected hours of work: This is a full-time position in an outpatient medical office setting. Days and hours can vary between all days of the week between the hours of 7am to 7pm. Based on business need, the ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends, is required.
