Job Title: Medical Technologist

Job Description

Provide MT or MLS services in a state-of-the-art civilian medical treatment facility, maintaining a high standard of care that meets or exceeds national standards. This position will support the collection, processing, and performance of moderate and high complexity laboratory testing.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory testing on patient samples utilizing the appropriate instrumentation and supplies.
• Analyze test results, verify them, and report accurately in compliance with laboratory protocols.
• Complete STAT tests within 60 minutes of receipt into the laboratory.
• Consult with healthcare providers regarding the interpretation and clinical relevance of laboratory findings, if necessary.
• Communicate all critical results directly to the provider per laboratory policy.
• Maintain stock of reagents and supplies and manage inventory.
• Ensure the laboratory environment is safe, clean, and compliant with regulatory standards such as HIPAA and OSHA.
• Perform and document quality control and preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment on assigned bench.
• Troubleshoot and resolve equipment or reagent malfunctions to ensure the accuracy of results.
• Keep accurate records of procedures, results, quality control, equipment maintenance, and compliance audits.
• Adhere to standard operating procedures (SOP) and applicable regulatory frameworks.
• Perform proficiency testing when assigned.

Essential Skills

• Medical technologist
• Medical laboratory scientist
• BLS
• Generalist certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) / Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) through ASCP, AMT, or AAB
• 6+ months of experience as an MLS or MT required
• 1+ years of clinical laboratory experience

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Familiarity in dealing with hospital patient population, including working with elderly
• Strong written and oral communication skills in English

Work Environment

The laboratory environment operates under the Pathology and Laboratory Service, providing services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Candidates must be open to working night and early morning shifts, with the shift schedule assigned by the Chief of Laboratory. Facility shifts include: Day shifts (0600 to 1430, 0700 to 1530, and 0800 to 1630), Evening shifts (1200 to 2030, 1400 to 2130, and 1400 to 2230), and Night shifts (2000 to 0630 and 2200 to 0630).

This is a Contract position based out of FORT HARRISON, MT.

The pay range for this position is $33.79 - $33.79/hr.
