Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Medical Technologist / Medical Laboratory Scientist to join a state-of-the-art civilian medical treatment facility. This role plays a vital part in delivering high-quality patient care by performing moderate- and high-complexity laboratory testing in accordance with national and regulatory standards.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, clinically strong, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, 24/7 laboratory environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform moderate- and high-complexity laboratory testing using approved instruments, methodologies, and reagents
- Analyze, verify, and accurately report test results in compliance with laboratory policies and procedures
- Complete STAT laboratory tests within 60 minutes of receipt
- Communicate critical values promptly and directly to healthcare providers per laboratory protocol
- Consult with providers regarding test interpretation and clinical significance when needed
- Perform and document quality control, calibration, and preventive maintenance on assigned instrumentation
- Troubleshoot instrument, reagent, or procedural issues to ensure result accuracy and workflow continuity
- Maintain accurate and complete documentation for testing, quality control, maintenance, and audits
- Participate in proficiency testing and competency assessments as assigned
- Monitor reagent and supply inventory and assist with restocking as needed
- Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant laboratory environment in accordance with HIPAA, OSHA, CLIA, and CAP standards
- Adhere strictly to all standard operating procedures (SOPs) and regulatory requirements
Required Qualifications
- Generalist certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) through ASCP, AMT, or AAB
- Active BLS certification
- Minimum of 6 months experience working as an MT/MLS
- At least 1 year of clinical laboratory experience
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Experience working with a hospital-based patient population, including elderly patients
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
- High level of accuracy, accountability, and professionalism
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and shifting workloads
Work Environment & Schedule
This laboratory operates under the Pathology and Laboratory Service and provides services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Candidates must be flexible and open to day, evening, night, early morning, and weekend shifts, as assigned by the Chief of Laboratory.

- 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
- 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
- 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Evening Shifts
- 12:00 PM – 8:30 PM
- 2:00 PM – 9:30 PM
- 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM
Night Shifts
- 8:00 PM – 6:30 AM
- 10:00 PM – 6:30 AM
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of FORT HARRISON, MT.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $33.79 - $33.79/hr.
