Position Summary:
The Medical Laboratory Tech / Medical Laboratory Scientist is responsible for the performance of laboratory testing and will work with the Laboratory Director, Pathologists, and Technologists to provide prompt and accurate lab testing for patients of our hospital and surrounding community. This is a full-time position that works the evening shift from 1:00 pm-11:00 pm in a 7 on / 7 off rotation.
Essential Duties
- Collects specimens for laboratory examination by venipuncture, various culture techniques, etc.
- Adheres to OSHA, CLIA, and Joint Commission regulations.
- Works without supervision or assistance.
- Responds to codes, traumas, and emergencies immediately.
- Operates and maintains all instruments. Maintains and documents quality control.
- Keeps appropriate logs and records, data entry and retrieval of patient results, and accession of patient specimens.
- Reports STAT results within 60 minutes, perform manual tests as required, and set up bacteria on appropriate media.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Medical Laboratory Scientist / Medical Laboratory Technician certification through the ASCP, AMT, or equivalent required
- Associate's or bachelor's degree in clinical Lab Science or related degree
- Hospital experience preferred
