Most of our staff have been with us for 9 years or more, and we are big on family values. This Mid-level Software Developer position requires strong Java/Object Oriented experience with a solid understanding of major relational database concepts, i.e. tables, indexes, SQL and enterprise-level application development. Current software architecture includes Angular, Java, NodeJS and Java Script against a SQL-Server database.

Principal Responsibilities:

Work in an agile development team to collaboratively build, deploy and improve numerous applications. Communicate with our clients to gather, clarify and define requirements for custom feature requests. Translate requirements into well written, well documented code implementing industry standards and best practices. Continue self-development through conferences, skills improvement, certification and self-study. Respond in a timely manner to trouble tickets requiring correction of bugs and/or customer enhancements. Perform unit testing and participate in design and code-review process. Work with technical contacts from other teams on integration projects. Grow to senior developer status with increased responsibility and pay, then to architect and who knows what else!?

Required Skills:

  • 3-8 years of solid Java design, development and maintenance experience at an enterprise level. 3+ years of Object Oriented software design, development and maintenance experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to obtain Public Trust clearance is required (similar to a security clearance, requiring US citizenship, clean criminal record, no significant ongoing credit issues and solid references).

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with Eclipse IDE and Agile development practices
  • Experience developing Section 508 compliant applications for users with accessibility challenges.
  • Experience in both commercial and government high-volume applications
