Mental Health Professional III (#019470) Broad River CI, Columbia (RICHLAND) Level 3 Apply
- Provides administrative oversight to the high-level behavior management unit and the choices program including the supervision of subordinate staff and clinical programming.
- Responsible for the programs to fall in line with the directives as outlined in the divisional and operational policy.
- Provides mental health assessments, clinical and crisis intervention for assigned inmates.
- Participates in treatment team.
- Provides after hour/on call coverage on a rotating basis, central services mental health.
- Conducts treatment team individual observations and assessments of a clients behavior in order to facilitate identification of problems and formulate treatment recommendations.
- Conducts group therapy and prepares detailed descriptive reports.
- Monitor clinical services, overseeing that inmates are transferred from the different levels based on progression of treatment goals.
- Supervises subordinate staff to ensure that program & clinical services are provided in choices program.
Must successfully complete two (2) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:
A Master's degree in guidance, counseling, the social sciences or a related field and professional experience in a mental health, human service or social service program.
SCDC Minimum Requirements:
(Or an acceptable equivalency as approved by the Division of State Human Resources). A minimum of a master's degree in a mental health related field (i.e. social work or counseling) and a license to practice as an LMSW or LPC-A and three (3) years of additional experience in a mental health/social service setting is required.
Preferred Qualifications: License as an LPC, LISW or LPC-S is preferred.
