Mental Health Therapist-Forensic Interviewer Apply
Requirements:
I. Must have a Masters Degree in one of the Human Services.
II. Must be a licensed therapist, or actively pursuing licensure.
III. Certified or willing to become certified in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and other therapy modalities.
IV. Must pass a criminal background check and Central Registry check.
Therapy (75%)
Provides therapy for child victims and their families/caregivers using evidence-supported, trauma-focused mental health services which includes standardized assessment, individualized treatment plans and ensures that both the child and non-offending caregiver are engaged in treatment.
Conducts therapy support groups with adolescents and/or their families using evidence-supported trauma-focused group therapy curriculums.
Develop an individualized treatment plan based on assessments that are periodically re-assessed.
Utilizes standardized assessment to reassesses client throughout therapy and documents progress and updates treatment plan as needed.
Participates in MDT meetings & case reviews to share information to the extent possible within legal and ethical rules of confidentiality.
Educate MDT members regarding the effects of trauma generally on children and non-offending caregivers, as well their needs and interactions with other agencies and systems.
Makes appropriate referrals for other services identified through clinical assessment and treatment including, but not limited to, domestic violence and substance abuse agencies, and/or other community mental health agencies for siblings and/or other family members.
Participates in regularly scheduled clinical supervision which provides ongoing support and training necessary to ensure appropriate and quality services to the clients they serve.
Documents counseling sessions, progress and referrals in agencys client database.
Forensic Interviews (15%)
On an as needed basis:
Coordinates information gathering with CAC staff and investigators both pre- and post-interview including history taking, assessments, and forensic interview(s) to avoid duplication.
Observes forensic interviews and provides clinical advice and feedback to the forensic interviewer.
Records notes throughout the forensic interview and provide access to the recorded interview at the end of the interview to authorized investigators.
Participates in post-interview case discussion with other MDT team members.
Testifies in court as required.
Community Outreach (5%)
Speaks in the community about child abuse issues and the services of the CAC.
Assists with conducting relevant trainings as needed for the CAC.
Other (5%)
Collects and documents necessary grant related information as needed.
Assists CAC with events as needed.
Assists with the day-to-day operations of the CAC.
