We have a permanent position in Merrifield, VA for a Software Tester / Technical Writer. Due to the nature of the work, you must be a US citizen or green card holder to apply and be able to obtain a public trust clearance. This role is initially 100% onsite for a week to become familiar with the people and the process, then it will be 3 days onsite; 2 remote work. Job details below. Job Duties:
- Collaborate with stakeholders from various departments to gather detailed business requirements and objectives, facilitating effective communication and alignment between business needs and IT solutions.
- Support change management and training efforts when implementing new processes or systems.
- Conducted SIT testing and communicated results to developers and stakeholders.
- Conducted user acceptance testing with end users to validate implemented solutions, ensuring that deliverables met business expectations and functional requirements.
- As the subject matter expert, facilitate communication and act as a liaison between the technical development team and the PMO/business customers to manage expectations and convey project timelines.
- Use SQL queries to analyze data and extract relevant information, providing valuable insights to support decision-making processes.
- Utilized business analysis techniques such as writing user stories and using Visio to create process flow diagrams to document and elicit functional requirements, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of system requirements for IT projects.
- Translate business requirements into clear, actionable functional requirements and CR's.
- Manage the team's backlog and align backlog items with the current sprint workload.
- Create CR's, delegate tasks to developers, and close out tasks when completed.
- Level 2 field support in Service Now.
- Write and edit new and existing technical documents including API style guides and ICD's. Maintain strict version control.
- File all teams' documents in an organized and maintained SharePoint.
REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
- Ability to analyze functional and system requirements.
- Experience in developing and documenting system test strategies, test plans, and test cases.
- Ability to manage updates and revisions of the test plans.
- Ability to conduct system testing based on developed test plans and test cases.
- Experience documenting and analyzing test results.
- Ability to assist development teams in debugging and reproducing reported issues.
- Experience generating and maintaining SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) artifacts.
- Ability to document and maintain updates on requirements traceability.
- Experience in helping to ensure high-quality content conformity to standards.
- Experience in conducting research and gathering technical information for use in written documents.
- Ability to apply interpersonal and interviewing skills to gather needed information from stakeholders to support writing activities.
- Experience in recording, tracking, and reporting on defects and their resolution.
DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:- Familiarity with section 508 compliant UI design is a plus.
- Familiarity with bug tracking systems.
- Strong writing and communication skills.
- To be able to analyze datasets to identify quality issues.
EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree, preferably in area of specialty and 3+ years of professional service in the field or in a related area.
