About the Role:

A leading advanced manufacturing organization is seeking an experienced Metallurgist High Performance Alloys to join its technical leadership team in New Castle, Pennsylvania. This is an outstanding opportunity for a metallurgical professional with expertise in high-performance alloys to lead product development, process optimization, and technical innovation supporting aerospace and other critical industries.

Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO), the successful candidate will provide metallurgical expertise across all phases of material processing, support manufacturing operations, develop new alloy grades, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. This position is primarily onsite and requires regular travel to manufacturing facilities throughout the United States.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead metallurgical process development, optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives for high-performance alloy products.
• Collaborate with the CTO to develop new alloy grades and enhance existing materials to meet customer specifications.
• Review and evaluate customer requirements and technical specifications for new products.
• Provide metallurgical expertise and technical problem-solving support across manufacturing operations.
• Test and analyze the mechanical, thermal, corrosion, and performance characteristics of high-performance alloys.
• Investigate material non-conformances, mechanical test failures, and determine root causes.
• Prepare and review technical reports, material specifications, process documentation, and engineering recommendations.
• Monitor emerging technologies and industry developments to expand the organization's aerospace and specialty alloy capabilities.
• Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and operations teams to improve product quality, yield, and manufacturing efficiency.
• Support product commercialization and continuous innovation initiatives across multiple manufacturing facilities.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Metallurgical Engineering, or Materials Science.
• Master's or Ph.D. in Metallurgy, Materials Science, or a related discipline is preferred.
• 8 10 years of progressive metallurgical experience in high-performance alloy manufacturing or a related manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated expertise in nickel-based superalloy development, aerospace-grade materials, process optimization, and product commercialization.
• Comprehensive knowledge of physical metallurgy, including phase transformations, microstructural evolution, and heat treatment.
• Strong understanding of mechanical metallurgy, deformation behavior, stress-strain response, work hardening, and fracture mechanisms.
• Knowledge of deformation processing techniques, including forging, rolling, and extrusion.
• Familiarity with aerospace and manufacturing standards, including ASTM, NADCAP, and AS9100.
• Strong analytical, statistical, and process control skills.
• Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and technical communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while working independently and collaboratively.
• Willingness to travel frequently to manufacturing facilities throughout the United States.
